The technical details for connecting to our NBN service are:
We support an MTU (maximum transmission unit) of 1480 - 1500 bytes.
Protocol/Encapsulation and Authentication
Irrespective of your technology type (FTTC, FTTP, FTTN, FTTB, FW, etc) the authentication and encapsulation method we use is PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) with a username and password.
Your username and password will be provided to you during your ordering process.
Your IP address will be provided to you automatically when connecting with PPPoE. The IP address you have been assigned is static and does not change.
IPv6 is available on all NBN services through the use of DHCPv6 over PPPoE. This is supported out of the box by most entry level to enterprise grade routers and all NBN receive a /64 prefix. Larger prefixes available upon request.
IP Telco does not require a VLAN tag for any new NBN services, but may provide one if requested. Some residential grade services (not covered here) may still require a VLAN tag.
